History of Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon opened on June 1, 1989, as Disney's first purpose-built water park at Walt Disney World. The park's backstory tells of a powerful typhoon that struck a tropical paradise, scattering surfboards, fishing boats, and the shrimp boat Miss Tilly across the landscape. The park has received periodic updates including the addition of Miss Adventure Falls family raft ride in 2017.
