Which Charter Bus Size Is Right for Your Group?
BusBrother is a marketplace, not a fleet operator. Its Florida and South Carolina carrier network provides 15-, 18-, 20- and 25-passenger minibuses, 30-, 35- and 40-passenger coaches, and 56-passenger motorcoaches, plus ADA wheelchair-lift equipped vehicles on request. Each carrier maintains its own vehicles under current DOT inspection, and the fleet pages list typical features for each size.
Book to your headcount plus about a 15 percent buffer for late additions and gear. As a guide, 15 or fewer passengers fit a 15-passenger minibus, 16-25 fit a 25-passenger minibus, 26-40 fit a 35- or 40-passenger coach, and 41-56 need a full motorcoach. Larger groups use multiple vehicles. Add room for luggage on airport and cruise trips.
Yes. Minibuses and motorcoaches in the network have climate-controlled cabins, and full-size motorcoaches add reclining seats, overhead storage and reading lights. Many 35- to 56-passenger coaches also list WiFi and USB or 110V power outlets, but equipment varies by carrier and vehicle, so ask the carrier to confirm any feature your group needs in writing.
Full-size motorcoaches and most 30-passenger-and-larger coaches have onboard restrooms, while minibuses generally do not. For trips under about 90 minutes a restroom is rarely needed, and drivers can plan a rest stop on longer minibus trips. If an onboard restroom matters to your group, request a motorcoach specifically when you ask for a quote.
A minibus seats 15 to 25 passengers and suits shorter trips and tight access such as hotel driveways and residential streets. A motorcoach seats up to 56 passengers and is built for longer trips, with under-floor luggage bays, an onboard restroom and reclining seats. Per-person cost usually drops on a motorcoach once a group passes about 30 passengers.
Yes. ADA wheelchair-accessible minibuses and motorcoaches are available on request at no additional charge. Note your accessibility needs at booking, including the number of wheelchair passengers, whether they can transfer to a coach seat or need to remain in the chair, and any service animal, so the carrier dispatches the correct vehicle. Same-day accessible vehicle requests depend on carrier availability.
