East Coast Beaches
The closest beaches to Orlando are on the Atlantic coast. Cocoa Beach is about 60 miles east via SR-528 (about 1 hour). New Smyrna Beach is 55 miles northeast. Daytona Beach is 60 miles northeast. Melbourne Beach and Satellite Beach are slightly further south. These beaches feature warmer water from the Gulf Stream and are popular for surfing.
Gulf Coast Beaches
The Gulf Coast beaches are further from Orlando but offer calmer water and often whiter sand. Clearwater Beach is about 110 miles west (2 hours). St. Pete Beach, Siesta Key, and Anna Maria Island are also on the Gulf side. Gulf beaches are known for spectacular sunsets, calm swimming conditions, and powdery white sand.

Cocoa Beach is the closest and most convenient, with a lively pier area and surf culture. Clearwater Beach is consistently ranked among the best in the US with sugar-white sand and clear water.
