Getting to Key West

Key West is the southernmost point in the continental United States, located approximately 380 miles south of Orlando. The drive takes about 6 hours via the Florida Turnpike and US-1 through the Florida Keys. The final 113 miles along the Overseas Highway cross 42 bridges including the famous Seven Mile Bridge, one of the most scenic drives in America.

Key West Highlights

Duval Street is the main commercial strip with bars, restaurants, and shops. The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum houses six-toed cats descended from the author's pets. Mallory Square hosts a daily sunset celebration with street performers. Fort Zachary Taylor State Park has the best beach in Key West. The Southernmost Point Buoy is the iconic photo opportunity.

Stops Along the Way

Key Largo is the first major stop with John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park for snorkeling. Islamorada is the sportfishing capital of the world. Marathon features the Turtle Hospital and the Old Seven Mile Bridge for walking. Bahia Honda State Park between Marathon and Key West has one of the best beaches in the Keys.
