About the Space Coast

Florida's Space Coast encompasses Brevard County on the central Atlantic coast, stretching from Titusville in the north to Palm Bay in the south. The region gets its name from Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, which have launched every US human spaceflight mission. The area offers 72 miles of beaches, world-class surfing, and unique wildlife viewing alongside its space heritage.

Top Attractions

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is the premier attraction, offering exhibits, IMAX theaters, astronaut encounters, and bus tours past launch pads. Other top attractions include the American Space Museum in Titusville, the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Cocoa Beach Pier, and Ron Jon Surf Shop. Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge provides incredible birdwatching and nature photography.

Beaches

Space Coast beaches include Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach, Indialantic, Melbourne Beach, and Playalinda Beach at Canaveral National Seashore. Cocoa Beach is the most developed with restaurants, shops, and nightlife. Playalinda offers pristine, undeveloped shoreline. Sebastian Inlet at the south end is known for the best surfing in Florida.

Rocket Launches

Rockets launch regularly from Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. SpaceX, United Launch Alliance, and NASA conduct frequent missions. Launches are visible from miles away and popular viewing spots include the KSC Visitor Complex, Space View Park in Titusville, Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral, and the beaches of Cocoa Beach.
