History of Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure opened on May 28, 1999, as the second theme park at Universal Orlando. It was designed from the ground up by a team of legendary theme park designers and was immediately praised for its ambitious ride technology and immersive theming. The park's fortunes soared with the 2010 opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade, which fundamentally changed the Orlando theme park landscape. The 2021 opening of VelociCoaster further cemented the park's reputation for world-class attractions.
