About Orlando International Airport
Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the busiest airport in Florida and one of the top 10 busiest in the United States, serving over 57 million passengers annually. The airport is located about 12 miles southeast of downtown Orlando. MCO serves as the primary gateway for visitors to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, and other Central Florida attractions. The airport code MCO comes from its former name, McCoy Air Force Base.
Terminal Layout
MCO has two main terminals connected by a people mover system. Terminal A and Terminal B are each divided into four gate sections called airsides (1 through 4). The main terminal building houses ticketing, baggage claim, and the food court. A new Terminal C opened in 2022, adding 15 gates and serving primarily international and domestic carriers including JetBlue and Caribbean airlines.
Airlines and Routes
Over 50 airlines operate at MCO, including Southwest, JetBlue, Delta, American, United, Spirit, Frontier, and international carriers like British Airways and Lufthansa. Southwest is the largest carrier at MCO by passenger volume. The airport offers nonstop flights to over 150 domestic and 50 international destinations.
Ground Transportation
MCO offers multiple ground transportation options including rental cars, rideshare pickup on Level 2 of the terminal garages, taxis, hotel shuttles, and the Brightline train connection. BusBrother provides group shuttle and charter bus service directly from MCO baggage claim to any Central Florida destination.
