About Spring Training
Florida's Grapefruit League hosts 15 Major League Baseball teams for spring training each February and March. The tradition dates back over a century. Spring training stadiums are much smaller and more intimate than regular-season venues, with capacities typically between 5,000 and 10,000. This creates a relaxed atmosphere where fans can get closer to the players.
Central Florida Teams
Teams training in the Central Florida area include the Atlanta Braves at CoolToday Park in North Port, the Tampa Bay Rays at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, the Detroit Tigers at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, and the Toronto Blue Jays at TD Ballpark in Dunedin. The Houston Astros train at FITTEAM Ballpark in West Palm Beach.
Tampa Bay Area Teams
The New York Yankees train at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. The Philadelphia Phillies train at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater. The Pittsburgh Pirates train in nearby Bradenton. The proximity of these venues allows baseball fans to see multiple games in a single day or weekend.
Group Baseball Trips
BusBrother organizes group spring training baseball trips from Orlando and other Central Florida cities. Multi-game day trips are popular, combining two games at different stadiums. The charter bus keeps the group together and handles the logistics of driving between venues. Group ticket packages and tailgate setups can be arranged.
