Theme Parks on Thanksgiving
All major theme parks are open on Thanksgiving Day and the full Thanksgiving week. This is one of the busiest periods at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. Parks begin their holiday decorations and events in early November, so Thanksgiving visitors enjoy the full Christmas overlay. Expect maximum crowds from Wednesday through Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
Thanksgiving Dining
Many Orlando restaurants offer special Thanksgiving menus. Walt Disney World resort restaurants serve Thanksgiving feasts that should be booked well in advance. Hotel restaurants throughout the Orlando area offer traditional meals. For groups in vacation homes, several catering companies and grocery stores offer pre-made Thanksgiving dinners for delivery.
Weather
Thanksgiving weather in Central Florida is typically ideal, with daytime temperatures in the 70s and low 80s. Evenings cool into the 60s. Rain is possible but far less likely than summer months. This comfortable weather makes outdoor activities and theme park visits very pleasant compared to the heat of summer.
Group Celebrations
BusBrother transports family reunion groups, church groups, and corporate teams to Thanksgiving events and activities. Popular group activities include theme park visits, beach trips (water is still warm enough for swimming), and community Turkey Trot 5K run events held the morning of Thanksgiving across Central Florida.
