About the Causeway
The Courtney Campbell Causeway (SR-60) connects Tampa to Clearwater across upper Tampa Bay. The 9.5-mile causeway features a multi-use trail, fishing areas, and kayak launch points along its length. It is both a transportation route and a recreational destination, with dedicated parking areas for trail users and anglers.
Scenic Drive
The causeway offers panoramic views of Tampa Bay with dolphins and manatees frequently spotted in the surrounding waters. The Ben T. Davis Beach on the Tampa side is a popular beach park. The Courtney Campbell Trail runs alongside the road for the entire length, popular with cyclists and joggers.
As an Alternative Route
When the Howard Frankland Bridge is congested, the Courtney Campbell Causeway serves as a northern alternative. The drive from Tampa to Clearwater takes about 20 to 25 minutes on the causeway. BusBrother uses this route for groups heading to Clearwater Beach, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, or the Gulf beaches.
Nearby Attractions
The Clearwater end of the causeway is close to Clearwater Beach, consistently ranked as one of the best beaches in the United States. The Tampa end connects to the Westshore business district and Tampa International Airport. BusBrother provides group transportation along this scenic corridor.
