About HART
Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) operates public bus service throughout Hillsborough County including Tampa, Temple Terrace, and unincorporated areas. HART operates approximately 30 bus routes connecting residential areas, employment centers, and major destinations. The Marion Transit Center in downtown Tampa serves as the primary transfer hub.
TECO Line Streetcar
The TECO Line Streetcar runs a 2.7-mile route connecting downtown Tampa to Ybor City with stops at the Tampa Convention Center, Channelside, and several Ybor City locations. The streetcar uses restored vintage-style vehicles and is free to ride. It operates Thursday through Sunday and is popular with visitors exploring the Channel District and Ybor City.
Fares and Passes
HART bus fare is $2 per ride with exact change required. Day passes are $4 and provide unlimited rides. The HART Go transit app allows mobile ticketing. Routes run approximately every 30 to 60 minutes depending on the line. Service is reduced on weekends and holidays.
Tourist Use
HART is useful for getting between downtown Tampa and Ybor City but does not directly serve Busch Gardens, the beaches, or many tourist attractions. For groups visiting Tampa attractions, BusBrother charter service provides comprehensive transportation that HART cannot match. The TECO streetcar is a fun experience for groups exploring downtown and Ybor City on foot.
