Spring-Fed Rivers

Florida's spring-fed rivers offer some of the best kayaking in the southeastern United States. The Wekiva River from Wekiwa Springs provides a jungle-like paddle through old-growth cypress. The Silver River from Silver Springs is famous for its crystal-clear water and resident monkey population. Rainbow River offers a gentle downstream float through colorful springs.

Coastal Paddling

The Indian River Lagoon offers excellent sheltered-water paddling with dolphin, manatee, and bird sightings. Mosquito Lagoon near Titusville is a top kayaking destination for wildlife viewing. Tampa Bay offers urban kayaking with skyline views. Clearwater and Honeymoon Island have kayak trails through mangroves.

Bioluminescent Kayaking

During warm summer months, bioluminescent organisms in the Indian River Lagoon near Merritt Island create a magical glow effect when disturbed by kayak paddles. Guided bioluminescence kayak tours depart from Titusville and Cocoa Beach after dark. The experience is best on moonless nights from June through September.

Group Paddling

BusBrother transports kayaking groups from Orlando to paddling destinations across Central Florida. Many outfitters provide shuttle service between launch and takeout points. BusBrother handles transportation to the outfitter, and the group can focus on the paddle. Popular group paddles include Wekiva River, Silver River, and bioluminescent tours.
