About Tri-Rail
Tri-Rail is a commuter rail system running 72 miles along the South Florida coast between Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. The system has 18 stations and operates primarily during weekday commute hours with reduced weekend service. Tri-Rail provides an affordable alternative to driving on I-95 between South Florida cities.
Key Stations
Important stations include the Miami Airport station (connecting to MIA Mover), Fort Lauderdale Airport station (short drive from FLL), West Palm Beach station (near Brightline), and the downtown stations in each city. Transfer buses connect several stations to nearby destinations.
Fares and Schedule
Tri-Rail fares are zone-based, ranging from $2.50 to $6.90 for a single ride. Monthly passes offer significant savings. Trains run approximately every 20 to 40 minutes during peak hours and hourly during off-peak and weekends. All trains are accessible and have bicycle racks.
Cruise Connection
Tri-Rail does not directly serve Port Everglades, but the Fort Lauderdale station is a short taxi or rideshare ride from the cruise port. For groups arriving from Central Florida heading to South Florida cruise ports, BusBrother provides direct door-to-port service that is more convenient than combining rail and local transportation.
