Frequently asked questions
How much does an overnight charter bus rental cost?
Overnight (2-day) charter bus rentals in Florida run 2,800 to 8,400 dollars total plus a driver-lodging line of about 150 dollars per night plus a driver per-diem of about 50 dollars per day. 14-passenger minibus: 2,800 to 3,800 dollars. 25-passenger minibus: 3,400 to 4,800 dollars. 55-passenger motorcoach: 4,800 to 8,400 dollars. All rates cover both service days.
Do we have to pay for the driver's hotel?
Yes. Driver lodging is a standard line item on overnight quotes, about 150 dollars per night for a mid-tier hotel booked by the carrier. Some corporate rate accounts pay the driver's hotel directly; others itemize it on the invoice. For weddings, ask the venue if they will cover the driver's room as part of your group hotel block.
Does the driver need to be with us during the overnight?
No. Once the driver drops your group at the destination and the vehicle is secured, the driver is off-duty until the next scheduled pickup. Driver stays at their assigned hotel and rejoins the group per the next day's schedule. Standby time between the drop and the next-day pickup is not billed as service hours.
What is the federal 10-hour driving rule?
FMCSA hours-of-service rule 49 CFR 395 caps commercial passenger driving at 10 driving hours per shift within a 15-hour on-duty window. Drivers must have at least 8 consecutive off-duty hours before starting a new shift. For overnight trips this is easily satisfied. For trips with more than 10 driving hours in a single leg, we assign a 2-driver team so one driver rests while the other drives.
Can the driver drive us back home late Sunday night after a Saturday wedding?
Yes if federal hours-of-service allow. A driver who worked Saturday from 8am to midnight needs 8 hours off before starting a Sunday shift, so an 8am Sunday start is legal. If your Sunday plan requires a start before 8am, either book the return for later Sunday or budget a Sunday-afternoon departure. Overnight rentals ARE the answer to this specific problem.
