Anastasia State Park is located on Anastasia Island in St. Augustine, about 100 miles northeast of Orlando. The 1,600-acre park protects a pristine Atlantic beach, tidal marshes, coastal hammock, and an ancient coquina quarry. The park's beach is consistently rated among the best in Florida for its wide, uncrowded shoreline.
Beach and Water Activities
The park offers 4 miles of white sand beach along the Atlantic Ocean. Swimming, surfing, bodyboarding, and surf fishing are popular activities. On the lagoon side, kayak and paddleboard rentals are available for exploring the tidal marshes. A designated windsurfing area attracts enthusiasts when conditions are right.
Nature and History
Hiking trails wind through coastal hammock and past the coquina quarry where stone was mined to build the Castillo de San Marcos in nearby St. Augustine. The quarry pools are now filled with water and home to wading birds. Over 200 bird species have been recorded in the park.
