About Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is a 335-acre African-themed theme park combining world-class roller coasters with a zoological experience featuring over 12,000 animals. The park originally opened as a hospitality center for the Anheuser-Busch brewery in 1959 and has evolved into one of the top coaster parks in the southeastern United States.
Roller Coasters
SheiKra is a 200-foot floorless dive coaster with a 90-degree drop. Cheetah Hunt is a triple-launch coaster reaching 60 mph. Montu is an inverted coaster with seven inversions. Kumba features a diving loop and seven inversions. Iron Gwazi, opened in 2022, is the tallest hybrid coaster in North America at 206 feet with a 91-degree drop.
Wildlife
The Serengeti Plain is a 65-acre section of the park where animals roam freely. The Serengeti Safari tour takes small groups on flatbed trucks into the plain for close encounters with giraffes, zebras, and rhinos. Other animal areas include the Myombe Reserve for gorillas and chimpanzees, Edge of Africa walking trail, and Penguin Point.
Group Visits
Busch Gardens offers group rates for parties of 10 or more. The park is located in Tampa, about 75 miles from Orlando via I-4. BusBrother provides group charter service from Orlando, St. Petersburg, and other Central Florida locations. The park pairs well with Adventure Island water park next door.
