About Honeymoon Island

Honeymoon Island State Park is located in Dunedin, just north of Clearwater on the Gulf Coast. The island offers 4 miles of Gulf beaches, nature trails through virgin slash pine forest, and ferry service to neighboring Caladesi Island. The park is one of the most visited state parks in Florida, attracting over 1 million visitors annually.

Beaches and Shelling

The Gulf-side beaches feature white sand and calm, clear water ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The bayside offers excellent shelling, with sea shells washing up on the more sheltered shores. The pet beach on the south end of the island is one of the few state park beaches in Florida that allows dogs.

Caladesi Island Ferry

A ferry operates from Honeymoon Island to Caladesi Island State Park, which is accessible only by boat. Caladesi is consistently ranked among the best beaches in America. The ferry runs every 30 minutes during peak season. The island has a nature trail, kayak trail through mangroves, and a cafe.

Group Beach Days

BusBrother brings groups from Orlando and Tampa to Honeymoon Island for beach day trips. The park offers pavilion rentals for group events. Combined with the Caladesi Island ferry, it makes for a full-day beach excursion. The park fills to capacity on busy weekends, so early arrival is essential.
