About ZooTampa
ZooTampa at Lowry Park is a 63-acre zoo consistently ranked among the top zoos in the United States. The zoo emphasizes Florida wildlife alongside exotic species and operates the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Critical Care Center, one of only four non-profit manatee hospitals in the state. The zoo is located about 4 miles north of downtown Tampa.
Animals and Exhibits
The zoo houses over 1,300 animals representing 250 species. Major exhibits include the Africa section with elephants, giraffes, and okapi; the Florida section with manatees, Florida panthers, red wolves, and black bears; the Primate World with gorillas and orangutans; and the Wallaroo Station children's area with a splash pad and petting zoo.

Giraffe feeding allows guests to hand-feed giraffes from an elevated platform. Stingray Bay offers stingray touch encounters. The zoo's water play areas and rides in Wallaroo Station keep young children entertained for hours. Keeper talks and animal feeding demonstrations occur throughout the day at various exhibits.
